Transdisciplinary Theme: How the world works
Central Idea: Energy exists in different forms and is generated and used in different ways.
Lines of Inquiry:
- Transformation and transference of energy
- Renewable and non-renewable energy
- The ways in which we conserve energy
Our Key Concepts are:
Function (how does it work)? How do we use energy? How can energy be generated/harnessed?
Connection (how is it connected to other things)? How does our energy use impact us/our world?
We will be exploring the different forms of energy in more detail next week through video clips and note taking. As well as seeking answers to our questions through personal inquiry.
Number Math- our math groups shall continue their work on fractions, decimals and percentages.
Strand Math- our new concept is Time and the children will begin with using their prior knowledge of 12 and 24hr times and convert between the two. |
5A: Nashita Khan- for excellent teamwork and communication skills during market day
5P: Ethan Ho- for valuable participation in his business group
5Y: Jason Luk- for working hard on market day and carrying out his role as cashier effectively.
One of our Year 6 groups has asked for the following message to be sent to all our Year 5 & 6 parents:
Dear all Year 5 and 6 parents,
We are an exhibition group in 6H and have been researching health in Hong Kong. Our research has led us to finding out about stress, addiction, obesity and malnourishment.
According to the Feeding HK website, in Hong Kong alone up to 1.5 million people suffer from food insecurity, and according to , 1 in 4 children don’t receive 3 meals a day. We need your help and support to take action against this problem.
Our group wants to make a food donation to Feeding HK. Feeding HK is an organisation that gives people access to food when they cannot provide it themselves.
The food that Feeding HK will take is listed below:
- Rice (Individual / family-sized bags)
- Noodles (Non-instant / non- fried)
