Transdisciplinary Theme: Who We Are
Central Idea
We can understand and develop our emotional well being to lead a balanced life.
Lines of Inquiry
- Managing and understanding our emotional wellbeing (form, function)
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships (connection)
- Ways to apply mindful behaviours (connection)
Next week the children will be completing some different activities to help them begin to consider different types of emotions they may feel. We will also start to think about the idea of a balanced life, what this might look life and why it might be important.
We have begun to explore the patterns found within the base ten system and make connections to how this can help our understanding of place value.
We have been looking at different ways to write big numbers and enjoyed discussing the ideas and questions arising from some great maths picture books.
Next week will will continue with this and begin to connect what we have learnt to decimal numbers.
Our English focus for this first unit will be narrative writing. Children will read a variety of texts looking into how they are structured and how to build characters. The Year 5 spelling program will begin once all the classes have finished testing the expected word lists.
There was no golden book this week but watch this space for next week’s golden students.
Children need to be bringing their own hats to school each day. They are not permitted to play in uncovered areas at break times if they do not wear a hat. Please make sure they are clearly named.
A reminder that no nuts are allowed for snacks, and that whenever possible snacks are healthy and nutritious.
