Year 3 Update Wk 33
Thank you to all our amazing guest speakers who took the time to come in this week and enrich the Year 3’s knowledge on a variety of different jobs.
DRESS UP DAY – CAREER DAY
Next Friday, the Year 3 children will come to school wearing clothes / costumes appropriate for the theme of career day. Take a look at the photos below for inspiration.
If your child has Deli Fresh for lunch, please talk to them about their food choices as we have noticed a lot of children are reluctant to finish their lunch.
Please remember that we have a NO NUT POLICY at BHS due to some children having severe allergies. This includes peanut butter sandwiches and nuts in cookies or cakes.
The weather did not put a dampener on all the fun in Year 3 this week! We had four wonderful guest speakers who gave up their time to share information about their jobs. The children eagerly listened and took notes with regards to the skills they use daily and how they collaborate with others.
Finally we were able to make our dreams come true! The children and adults absolutely loved their visit to ‘Dream come true.’ It was great to see so many smiling faces!
Recently in Year 3, we have had a couple of instances of items going missing. After speaking to the children on each occasion, the items were returned to school the next day. Whilst, I am pleased that the children have reflected on their actions and returned the item to school, I am disappointed to have to share this news with parents. Please can you remind your children that any items they bring to school should be labelled with their names and if it is something very precious to them, it should not be brought to school.
People collaborate towards a common goal
Lines of Inquiry
- Different workplaces and the roles people have (responsibility)
- Shared goals in group situations (connection)
- Systems that support collaboration in the workplace (responsibility)
This week the children have continued to look at the different skills needed for collaboration and continued inquiring into the different skills needed for different occupations.
The children took notes during the Guest Speakers’ talks and composed job descriptions / slideshows based on the notes they had taken.
Next week we are very lucky to have secured more guest speakers.
The children will also take part in a ‘give one, get one’ exercise on dress up day.
This week the children explored area and measurement using centimetres. They also inquired into probability. The children described likelihood of activities and events using appropriate vocabulary. E.g. likely, unlikely, certain, impossible.
Next week the children will collect organise and represent data including bar graphs, pictograms, venn diagram and tally charts.
New tasks have been set in relation to time. Please encourage your child to log on and complete tasks as part of their home learning.
