Year 3 Update Wk 2
Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and help out during our trip to the airport!
All children need a hat for break, lunch times and PE lessons. Please ensure they are clearly labelled. NO HAT, NO PLAY!
Please remember that we have a no nut policy at BHS due to some children having severe allergies. This includes peanut butter sandwiches and nuts in cookies or cakes.
We had an amazing time at the airport searching for signs and symbols. The children learnt a lot about the different signs and symbols that can be seen around the airport. So next time you are jetting off, sit back, relax and let your child guide you to the correct aisle.
HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES
We have started the inquiry process and are tuning in to the lines of inquiry.
Our lines of inquiry are:
-
How signs and symbols facilitate effective communication
-
How The Arts can be used to communicate
-
The reasons and impact for communicating in different ways (causation)
Central Idea: The base 10 place value system is used to represent numbers and number relationships
The children will learn to:
- Apply place value to partition and rename four digit numbers
- Recognise, model, represent and order four digit numbers (position four digit numbers on a number line, read four digit numbers, write numbers using digits and words, compare and order four digit numbers)
- Round numbers to the nearest 10 or 100

Recount
This week the children have borrowed a book from the library. Home reading will resume next week. More information will be given at the ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening.
Please continue to read books from home and discuss these with your child on a daily basis.
