Year 2 Update Wk 2
Lifestyle choices can affect human health and well-being
Lines of Inquiry
- What it means to have a balanced lifestyle (causation)
- The choices we make that affect our health (reflection)
- Our responsibility for our own well-being (responsibility)
This week classes unpacked the Central Idea by looking into what well-being means, creating different categories of well-being, and sorting activities into these areas. Many students were interested in taking healthier snacks to school! As this is a school policy, it might be a good time to give your child a voice and practice making healthy lifestyle choices by discussing some snack ideas together.
Recognise, model, read, write and order three digit numbers
Spelling folders went home today! Studying spelling words is new for Year 2 students, and is completed on a weekly basis. Please take a look at the folder with your child and remember to do two of the activities.
Home readers also went home this week. The procedure is to have the child read the book daily, preferably to mom or dad, then the child should retell the story including the main events and details without looking at the book. It is also good to ask your child a few questions about why they think certain things happened to build inference skills.
Meet The Teacher
Remember, Meet The Teacher is on Tuesday! We would like at least one parent from every child to attend if possible to go over some of the basics of Year 2. This is a good time to ask any general questions, but we ask that all personal questions about individual children be asked in a more confidential way. See you then!
