Year 1 Update – Wk 27
This week the children have settled back into school smoothly ready for their final term in Year 1. Some classes have had great fun making their own paper using recycled paper. We have enjoyed doing drama in the drama room, extra music and making clay plates in preparation for the sharing day later this term. All the children who had their immunizations this morning were very brave.
Central Idea: Plants and animals depend of each other for survival in their environments
During U.O.I next week the children will be working with a partner to create a diorama based on what they have learnt about the connections between living things. They will also be making their own paper and starting to plan and create pieces of art work based on the work of Eric Carle. Ms Cassie and Mr Gibson will continue to work with the Year 1 students next week.

Cooking at Home
Khristie and her family have been busy at home preparing and making yummy Tiramisu. It is lovely to see so many children enjoying cooking and baking at home with their parents.
Numbers can be added and subtracted
Next week in Maths we will be building upon the children’s understanding of addition and subtraction by teaching specific strategies such as counting on and counting back using number lines and bridging across 10 using equipment such as, Numicon and Dienes Blocks. The children will also be applying their knowledge by carrying out a problem solving task based on addition and subtraction.
Next week we will be continuing with the Set 5 of phonics:
ch, sh, th, wh
