Swimming- Remember to bring: swimmers, change of underwear, $5 coin, swimming cap, goggles, and a towel.
Equipment and stationery – most children have made a great start to the year and have brought the correct equipment. However, some students have not and it is essential that they bring all of the items listed on the letter that they received at the end of Year 5.
If your child has lost the letter, they need to ask their class teacher for another copy.
If you have not already done so, please purchase a cheap pair of in-ear earphones for your children to keep in school at all times. We use the Chromebooks to enhance many areas of the curriculum, in order to get the most out of the programs we use, earphones is a must. They are available from Japanese Home Centre (JHC) for 50HKD.

Number Maths – Place Value
Central Idea – The base 10 place value system extends infinitely in two directions.
Year 6 will continue to investigate decimal fractions through place value and money next week.
Central Idea – Conversion of units and measurements allows us to make sense of the world we live in.
In strand math, we will explore conversions of units of measure by looking at and estimating distance as well as body measurements.
We are learning to become more aware of the new ideas and thoughts we develop through reading, watching and listening. This week we will read and listen to a selection of powerful speeches to not only think about the purpose but also the influence these speeches had on society. We will share our understanding and new ideas using graphic organisers and think alouds.
The students will be learning and practicing the strategy of annotating. Annotating is any action that deliberately interacts with a text to enhance the reader’s understanding of, recall of, and reaction to the text. Sometimes called “close reading,” annotating usually involves highlighting or underlining key pieces of text, using a key and making notes in the margins of the text.
