Year 6 Update WK 32

upcomingdates

Monday 18th June – Dragon Boat Festival Public Holiday – School Closed

Wednesday 27th June – Bugsy Malone production for parents

Thursday 28th June – Year 6 Graduation

Costumes for Year 6 production will be provided in school. Members of staff have been working hard to gather and source various outfits, props and accessories required for the ‘Bugsy Malone’ production.

If you do have anything at home you feel would help with production and would be happy for it to be used please contact one of the Year 6 teachers.

We are very grateful for any help, so all welcome. It is not an expectation for any families to go out and buy costumes. Unless you have been contacted separately regarding outfits, all costumes are being provided/ worked on in school.

Some of the children will be primarily working on costume design as part of their learning contracts so we are excited to include their contributions and learning within the production.

Year 6 Graduation
Thursday 28th June
Our Year 6 Graduation will be held on Thursday 28th June, more details will be sent to you in the next few weeks, but in the meantime please be thinking about what your child might wear for this very special event. It is an important event in the children’s school life and therefore we expect them to wear smart/semi-formal event clothing for the ceremony.
Boys – suits, shirt and tie (at the very least) or traditional clothing, dress shoes

Girls – party dresses or traditional clothing, party shoes

Healthy Living at BHS
We promote healthy living at BHS and therefore children should only bring water to school. Please do not send milk drinks, sugary drinks or any other kind of drink. We have water fountains and taps where students can refill their (BHS) water bottles throughout the day.

Bugsy Malone rehearsals are in full swing and the children have done a great job so far learning their lines and song lyrics as well as taking on feedback to improve their expression, volume, stage presence etc.

We have children who are learning about the language, history, arts and promotions side of Bugsy Malone. There is some fantastic learning going on and children are beginning to express interest in how they can showcase their learning on production evening.

Well done to all the children who took part in the dance off this week, it is obvious you have been practising hard- good luck in getting into the next round. A shout out to our student council representatives who have helped to organise and carry out the event too, a lot of time and effort goes into these competitions so well done all of you!

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their transition day to high school on Friday. It was a great day to meet new peers, experience classroom life and get a feel for their up and coming Year 7 routine.

For the remainder of the year, all maths lessons will be held in the children’s usual classes.  Most of the maths that will be taking place will all be revision.
