Year 5 Update Week 38

TODAY WILL BE OUR LAST WEEKLY UPDATE FOR THE YEAR, I’VE MADE IT BRIEF… ENJOY!

Wednesday 26th June – Year 5 Swimming

Friday 28th June – last day of school for the summer, 12pm finish

Tuesday 13th August – back to school, Term 1 starts….meet your teachers in the playground

Year 5 Swimming – swimming lessons finish next week for Year 5 on Wednesday. We will head off to the swimming pool for our weekly lesson.

The children need to bring with them to school….

swimming costume
towel
flip flops
$5 coin (for locker rental, they get it back a the end of the session)
goggles
swimming cap
deodorant (to reapply after swimming)
swimming bag

Swimming lesson times are as follows…

5D – 9am-10am : please ensure all children are at school by 8:40 so the lesson can start on time, 5D children are to wear their costume to school under their PE kit. Don’t forget to pack underwear!

5F – 10am – 11am : please bring swimming costume as we will change at the swimming pool.

5C – 11am-12pm : please bring swimming costume as we will change at the swimming pool.

Class Swaps – On Monday 24th June the children will find out who their new teacher is for Year 6. They will head off to meet them on Monday afternoon in their new classrooms. How exciting!

Year 6 Production – next Tuesday 25th June we will be watching the Year 6 Production of Cinderella & Rockerfella, can’t wait!

Learning Centre – please return all library books to Mrs Lowe in the Learning Centre as soon as possible. She will be distributing any letters giving information to families that may have lost books throughout the year.

BYOB – next week the children will be bringing home their books and belongings from school so can you please send in a reusable bag for them to carry home all their gear in from Monday? Each teacher will decide when those classes things will go home but please can they be ready from Monday.

Portfolios – all the children’s portfolios should have been sent home for you to have a look at, so enjoy! Unfortunately, they need to be brought back to school asap as they get boxed up and sent to their new teacher so he or she can look at them and see the work they did in Year 5. So, can you please send back the portfolios as soon as you’ve looked them over. Their Year 6 teachers will return these back to you for good in probably the first week of school.

Early Finishers – if you are heading off for the Summer Holiday early (lucky you!) but can you please let your class teacher know so they can make any arrangement accordingly.

End of Year Reports – our end of year reports will go live on The Gateway on Monday 24th June so please don’t forget to log on to see all the comments your class teacher has written about the progress of your child.

Thanks! – a big thank you for your support throughout this year. The teachers have been impressed with how the children have matured this year and are looking forward to seeing how they get on for the final year at BHS. Have a great summer and see you around the school in the new academic year!
