Home Market Stall – make your dining room table into a market stall! Find some products that you have on hand eg. foods from the pantry, games, stuffed toys, toilet paper etc. Decide on some sensible prices and make some simple price tags and take a photo of you in your stall. Have fun.
Then….enjoy your holidays! Have a great break.
5D and 5C
Deliver your pitch to someone at home and ask them about whether they would invest in your company. Could they improve your pitch?
Have a fantastic holiday!

Signs and Labels – Using your design from yesterday you can now start to make all the labels and signage that you will need for your stall. Maybe a good idea is to set up a shared Google Slide for this. If your prices are not confirmed, please don’t worry, just put on an approximate price and we can quickly change it later.
Maybe you should think about making these…
* large sign for your stall (this could be done on computer and we can copy it A3 later here at school)
* large product signs
* product descriptions
* price signs
* mission statement
Also, some groups need to make labels for this products
* ingredients labels for jello lip balm and food items
* labels for recycled paper notebooks
Make sure your company logo and slogan is featured!
5D and 5C
Please carry on with your pitch presentations. Think about what you would say at each part of the presentation and write down a speech. This is different to a script as you do not need stage directions.

Stall Design – For our market stall coming up in March, each group will have a red table approximately 1.5 x 1m to display and sell your goods. You will need to draw up a design for your stall and this could be either done online or by hand.
You will need to think about….
* how you will present your goods
* what containers the saleable items might go in and where
* what signage you will need to have eg prices, product names, product descriptions, logo, slogan etc
* where the ‘float’ will go
* storage of excess goods
* other things that are particular to your stall or products???
And 5F…can you please share your shared Business Plan with me?

Thursday 8th February
Create a poster for your business for display around the school. It can advertise your brand, your products or both. It needs to have your business name, logo and slogan clearly shown and it should follow the design principles of Colour, Repetition, Alignment, and Balance (C.R.A.B). Here are some examples of how the same company can create different posters.

Below is a video of a motivational speaker! He is persuading people to be good citizens. He uses a variety of techniques to make his speech more persuasive and keep people listening. Reading – please continue reading each day and recording your pages in your Reading Diary. If you have finished your home reader please choose a book from home.
Comprehension Strategies – Visualising
Create a story map of one of your books that you have finished recently.
There are so many different ways you can do a story map, here are some examples that I’ve found. Get creative!
Friday 9th February
Continue working on the scripts that you started yesterday. If you have finished already, take another look with fresh eyes and edit your piece. Try acting it out in your mind or giving it to someone to read. Does it make sense? Is it clear to everyone what they need to do and when? Remember, not all people need to speak but all need to be seen.
Thursday 8th February
Start creating scripts for your advert. They should follow the same theme and idea that your company does. For example, if you have an environmental theme, don’t create an advert with lots of cars and traffic. Remember to include scene descriptions e.g. Scene opens on a field full of flowers with the wind blowing, action descriptions e.g. The boy runs through the field laughing and flying a kite and dialogue e.g. Boy: (Puzzled) “Hey, what’s that over there?”. Try to use your storyboards as an example. We have attached an example script for a cereal advert.

Data Handling – You will be using the graphs that you constructed on Google Sheets from your market research to answer these questions. You may not be able to answer all questions, depending on the questions that you asked when you went out in the field or from your Google Form.
- What were the most popular choices from my survey?
- What was the least popular?
- What does this survey tell me about how I will promote and advertise my products?
- What does this survey tell me about what I might charge for my products?
- What does this survey tell me about how many products I will make?
- What else can this survey tell me?
Put these answers onto some Google Slides an include a pic of the graph on the page too. Please be as detailed as you can. We will get together and merge our work on this to make some collaborative statements to include as part of our Business Plan.

Hi Year 5. While we are out of school it is not possible to continue with our game controller project. So instead I thought it might be quite nice if you try and build a game in Scratch that can be used with your Game Controller your group is building (as a little extra bit that can be played on it). It does not have to be a complicated game at all or use all of your buttons. You are also able to remix other games you find in scratch.
Your game could be as simple as a running race game like this: https://resources.scratch.mit.edu/www/cards/en/raceCards.pdf
Or something a little more complex like pong or a maze game:
https://resources.scratch.mit.edu/www/cards/en/pongCards.pdf
http://scratched.gse.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/magic_maze_in_scratch2_v0.1.pdf
Remember to use the keys that are in your game controller (eg. up, down, space, etc..).
If you get anything made then can you add the link to the Google Classroom assignment I have created for you.
I’ll share some more tutorials that may help in the coming days. Any questions email me at stu.lowe@beaconhill.edu.hk

Fitness
Well done on doing such a great job with the Monday and Friday fitness mornings. There are plenty of apps and youtube channels that have 10 minute work outs. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=group+HIIT+kids is a good channel but feel free to use any you like. Remember to be safe and not hurt or over exert yourself. Try and do at least 3 fitness sessions which last between 8-10 minutes between now and next Thursday.
Adventure Challenge
Our adventure challenge lessons have involved a lot of team work skills so you will need to work with someone (a friend, sibling, helper, parents, grandparents) on this activity
https://www.playmeo.com/activities/team-building-problem-solving-activities/paper-holding/ (download the pdf for instructions). This is ideally done in threes but challenge yourself and try with just one partner! Send me a photo timothy.teahan@bhs.edu.hk of your best effort and write a brief description of how you got on. Tell me how you did on the team work aspect of the challenge.
Games
With your class teacher you are looking at games. Have a go at creating a game at home which uses a ball and a target. Send me a photo or short video of you and someone else playing your game. Keep the game safe as you don’t want to break anything!
Basketball Club Members
Please try and practise your basketball skills. Try and find a basketball court and practise shooting. Ideally play with someone else and do some attacking and defending skills. Remember to try and always get the rebound! Use the video below to help with your shooting technique.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2f9YBKAxmqQ
Rugby Club Members
Practise your rugby passing skills. If you don’t have a rugby shaped ball try using any shaped ball. Try some one on one drills with a partner. Set out a boundary and try to avoid getting tagged as you try and score a try.
Have a go at learning the spin (or spiral pass). This video will teach you the technique – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=madM6Jvi_5I
