Eco Squad!
We have enjoyed getting to know the children over the past week and a half. We have enjoyed some “Getting to know each other” activities, begun thinking about Place Value in Maths, been making early explorations into poetry during English lessons and undertaken a provocation and pre-assessment to prepare the children for our first unit of inquiry.
Please enjoy a selection of photographs from 4A, 4F and 4W and ask your child to tell you about what they have been doing.
Central Idea
Experiences and beliefs shape a person’s actions
Lines of Inquiry
An inquiry into…
- How our actions affect our lives (Causation)
- People’s many and varied beliefs (Perspective)
- The interconnectedness of beliefs and actions (Connection)
Next week, students will explore the beliefs of other people by spending time with different adults who work in Year 4. They will have opportunities to explore the beliefs that are behind music from different cultures. We will also be thinking about the role of dance and the children will all become choreographers!
An inquiry into:
- The patterns of 5 digit numbers and how they are represented
- Representing number patterns using words, symbols, numbers and tables
Next week the children will be renaming, ordering and comparing 5 digit numbers. They will be undertaking a range of activities, games and open-ended tasks in order to do this.
- Mon, Weds, Fri – borrow a BHS home reading book
- Tues, Thurs – read a book online from Big Universe
Mathematics
All children should aim to spend 30 minutes per week completing their assigned Mathletics tasks and/or practising their times tables.
