Year 3 Update Week 36
- Friday 21st – Year 3 mini market day
- Monday 24th June – Class swaps
- Friday 28th June (12pm) – End of school year
As part of our Maths and collaboration unit the Year 3 children will be taking part in a mini market day. The children will be working in small groups to come up with a product to sell to their Year 3 peers. All the profits will go towards buying pizza for the end of year party.
On Friday 21st the children will set up their shops and sell their goods. We want the children to get hands on experience using money so we are asking the children to bring in $20-$40 in coins. We do not want the children to bring in notes as the children will be selling their products for prices that has cents eg. $5.20, $7.80 etc.
Lunch forms can now be collected from Ms Anna at reception for new registrants.

What a wonderful week we have had! It was absolutely fabulous to see all the smiling faces during our trip to, ‘Dream Come True.’ The children gained a deeper insight into how collaboration is needed for different jobs. Check out our photos.
Central Idea:
Different approaches to collaboration influence the productivity of groups
The children will be inquiring into:
Shared goals in group situations (connection)
Skills and behaviour that support collaboration (responsibility)
The impact of their behaviour on a shared goal (reflection)
Next week, the children will put their skills of collaboration to work by making products to sell with their peers.
On Friday we will have a mini market day.
Problem Solving (Four Operations)
The children will gain first hand experience using money next week at the mini market day. The children will use addition and subtraction to calculate totals and change given.
The children will continue to review the four operations through multi-step problems. They will be looking into explaining their thinking when solving problems, they will also be finding multiple ways to solve them.
Next week the children will focus on advertising their products using some of the key advertising techniques.
Reading
Comprehension Strategy: Connecting
The children will continue to identify connections while they are reading to themselves, other texts and the world.
