We are in the ‘Going Further’ stage of our inquiry cycle and the children have been extemely busy inquiring into their chosen form of communication. Our workshop proved to be a huge success with each child gaining a deeper understanding of their chosen form. During our sharing session, Mr Glencross’ group shared a very special code in semaphore with the rest of the year group. Ms Wu shared video clips of each group’s dramatic gestures and Mrs Mulligan’s art group shared their learning by having a mini art gallery in the third floor shared area. Ask your child about their chosen form of communication and how they chose to ‘Give’ in order to promote the five ways to well-being.
A huge thank you to the children who took part in the INCAS assessments for the very first time. We were very impressed with the mature manner in which the children undertook the online quizzes.
Effective communication can be enhanced through different methods.
We will be inquiring into:
-
How signs and symbols facilitate effective communication (form)
-
How the arts can be used to communicate (function)
-
The reasons and impact for communicating in different ways (causation)
Next week we will look into the questions posed by the children at the beginning of the unit and find out answers to the questions they have asked.
We will also focus on Causation (Why we chose to communicate in different ways)
Next week the children will continue their inquiry into our Shape and Space unit.
Our focus will be to sort, describe, compare and label regular and irregular two dimensional shapes and three-dimensional objects using appropriate vocabulary.
Mathletics passwords are in your child’s diary.
Congratulations to:
