In Maths we continued looking at the likelihood of various scenarios, using the words ‘certain’, ‘likely’ ‘unlikely’ and ‘impossible’. We used counters, jars, cards, dice and coins to investigate probability.
Our trip on Tuesday was a huge success! All the groups made it to Discovery Bay, arriving at different times having travelled in a variety of ways. It gave us great examples of journeys on public transport to discuss and reflect upon.
Central idea: Geography influences how people interact with their environment.
Lines of inquiry:
- The significant features of places -form
- How the features of a place influence our activities -causation
- The relationship of our location to other parts of the world – connection
Next week we will start to learn some facts about the continents- their countries, geographic features and famous landmarks. The children will be using an atlas and information books to learn more. They will be learning where Hong Kong is on a world map and about its neighbouring countries.
Position and Direction
Next week the children will continue to describe position and direction using mathematical vocabulary for example, left, right, forwards, backwards, North, South, East and West.

Please continue to complete the activities on Mathletics.
Please continue to practise number bonds to 10, 20, 30 and 40:
This week we made a step plan. Try making one at home with your child. There are plenty examples in the pupil activity book page 43 onwards . It could be trying a new food or learning something. Each step should be small and achievable, and always start with the easiest step. Rewards can be given for each step but they should be interpersonal such as a hug from mum or having a family games night.
A suggested story for this week is Pog by Lyn Lee and Kim Gamble. Don’t forget to remind your child to be brave and relax for at least 10 minutes a day.
Mandarin – All children are encouraged to take a reading book home on the days when they have Mandarin lessons.
