If you are a past member of the Beacon Hill School community we would like to hear from you with any memories, suitable stories or simply any message to be included in the year book.
Please could you send your contribution to alumni@bhs.edu.hk. We would appreciate it if you could send the messages etc in by Friday 4th May. If possible, send us a photo of when you were at BHS!
Thanks in advance.
- The children can perform in groups or solo
- The aim is to have fun
- The dance should be around 1 minute
- There will be a lower school and upper competition
You can support your child by helping them create and rehearse their dance.
We have been looking at maps of Hong Kong, MTR maps, bus timetables and transport apps to plan our journeys to Discovery Bay.
The children have been practising finding halves and quarters of quantities, using hands-on equipment.
The children have been able to take part in the Year 6 Action that they have organised as part of their Exhibition.
Central idea:
Transport systems are directly related to the needs of a community.
Lines of inquiry:
- Features/parts of transportation systems (form)
- Decisions involved in using transportation (function)
- How elements of a transport system connect to meet the needs of a community (connection)
The children will go on their planned journey to Discovery Bay. On the way they will be thinking about the different transport they are on and how the different systems are connected.
After the trip the children will make comparisons between their journey and those of their classmates. They will be thinking about cost, journey time, comfort and enjoyment.
Central Idea:
We collect information to make sense of the world around us and it can be organised in different ways
The children will be identifying activities and familiar events that involve chance and describe them using appropriate vocabulary for example ‘likely’ or ‘unlikely’.
Please continue to complete the activities on Matheletics.
Please continue to practise number bonds to 10, 20, 30 and 40:
Today we have tried to be aware of self-talk and the difference between thoughts and feelings. Please discuss green, helpful thoughts and red, unhelpful thoughts with your child, helping them to understand them as much as possible. All thoughts are okay but green thoughts can make us feel happier in life and try new things. Remember to relax for at least 10 minutes a day. Ask your child to give you a pizza massage or read the story Giraffes can’t Dance by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker together! And don’t forget to help your child practise being brave. Home activities are on page 32 of the pupil book this week.
Mandarin – All children are encouraged to take a reading book home on the days when they have Mandarin lessons.
