Student Council Fruity Friday
The children have been finishing their work in preparation for their Sharing Morning with you.
Those children who completed all their work for sharing were able to continue inquiring into different celebrations.
All the Year 2 children were able to rehearse their song and dance together in the hall for the first time.
Central idea:
People use and change materials to suit their needs
Lines of inquiry:
- The properties of materials (form)
- Materials are used for specific purposes (function)
- How materials can change (change)
The children will start the unit by going on a material hunt around school. They will be looking for different materials and thinking of vocabulary to describe their properties.
We would be delighted to see any action showing how the children continue this materials hunt at home.
The children will also sort materials based on their properties e.g. hard, soft, waterproof, etc.
Central Idea: Fractions are a way of representing part of a whole
Lines of inquiry:
- Fractions of shapes
- Fractions of amounts
- How to make simple fractions
- The language of fractions
Next week the children will continue to look at fractions. They will explore halves and quarters. They are learning that fractions are equal parts of a whole. They will also be investigating problems involving fractions.
Please continue to practise number bonds to 10, 20, 30 and 40:
Mandarin – All children are encouraged to take a reading book home on the days when they have Mandarin lessons.
