PE Monthly Update #5

Unit 3 Individual Pursuits – Run, Jump and Throw

The focus during the current unit has been on athletics and we have looked at the different ways we can run, jump and throw. The skills during this unit will help the Year One students when they have their first Beacon Hill Sports Day.

 

PMP

In PMP, this term we have introduced forward rolls and skipping. Please take the time to practise skipping at home with your child. Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to help with this term’s PMP.

Unit 3 Individual Pursuits – Athletics

The Year Twos have been exploring athletics. They have focused on running, jumping and throwing and the various ways we can do those three fundamental PE skills.

Unit 3 Games – Rounders

The Year 3s have just finished their unit on rounders. The lessons focused on how to improve their striking and fielding and to use tactics when striking the ball to help their team succeed.

Unit 3 Health and Fitness

With their class teachers they have linked their class unit to a unit on health and fitness and how to look after the body systems. Their unit will finish with their health and fitness excursion.

Unit 3 Net and wall games – Badminton

The Year Fours have been introduced to the game of badminton. They started by learning the basic skills of forehand, backhand and serving. The last couple of weeks they have learnt the rules of badminton by playing singles and doubles matches.

Unit 3 Adventure Challenge

With their class teachers the focus has been focused on adventure challenge. They have worked on the skills of team work, communication, creativity and problem solving.

 

Unit 3 Striking and fielding – Rounders

The Year Fives have been learning the game of touch rugby. They have focused on what skills are needed when defending and attacking and how to outwit an opponent.

Unit 3 Games – Rugby

They have also been learning modified versions of rounders with a focus on how to outwit the opposition team. The students would benefit from more practice throwing and catching tennis balls so please practice at home with your child.

Unit 3 Movement Composition – Dance

The Year Six have just finished their dance unit. The unit focussed on choreography, working with a partner, timing and creativity.

Unit 3 Invasion Games

With their class teachers, they have been  looking at invasion games. They focussed on attacking and defending skills and how to support their team mates.

This is a new section for the monthly P.E. update. This section will be for celebrating sporting success outside of school. So if your child does well in any sporting events (rugby, tae kwon do, golf, etc.) please email me at timothy.teahan@bhs.edu.hk and I will include it in this section. If you also have a photo I will also try and include it as well (space and size permitting!).

Well done to Rachel (4F) and Linda (3D) for their amazing swimming achievements at 2016 ESF swimming gala.

-Event 1  Girls 8 &  Under 50 SC Meter Parent/Child Relay ; 3rd place

-Event 5  Girls 8 &  Under 50 SC Meter Freestyle ; 2nd Place
-Event 19  Girls 8 &  Under 50 SC Meter Butterfly ; 2nd place
-Event 21  Girls 8 &  Under 100 SC Meter  IM ; 3rd Place

 

Linda’s results:

– Event 8  Girls 7 &  Under 25 SC Meter Backstroke ; 2nd place
-Event 13 Girls 7 &  Under 25 SC Meter Breaststroke ; 1st place

 

 

 

Well done to Ronny (6D) and Andy (4W) for their fantastic football results at the 2016 Christmas Cup. Their team, FC06, won the competition with Ronny being the top goal scorer and Andy played amazingly well in goal.
