PE Monthly Update #4
Unit 3 Individual Pursuits – Run, Jump and Throw
This unit will focus on running, jumping and throwing. We will explore the different ways of running, jumping and throwing and it will lead into the Year One’s first ever Sports Day.
PMP
Currently in PMP the skills are focussed on spatial awareness, memory, balance, hand eye coordination, fine motor and gross motor skills. Ask your child what their favourite station is!
Unit 3 Individual Pursuits – Athletics
During this unit the focus on how we can use our bodies to help us run, jump and throw. We will cover the basic actions needed to improve our running, jumping and throwing techniques.

Unit 3 Games – Rounders
This unit will cover the skills and technique needed to play rounders. We will cover pitching, fielding and batting. We will explore the link between rounders and other striking games.
Unit 3 Health and Fitness
With their class teachers they will look at the link between health and fitness and their class unit on body systems.
Unit 3 Net and wall games – Badminton
During this unit we will be exploring the game of badminton. We will look at individual skills, partner skills, rules and how to outwit an opponent. If your child has their own racquet they are most welcome to bring their own.
Unit 3 Adventure Challenge
The Year Four class teachers will be looking at the link between their class unit and adventure challenge. They will participate in their own adventures and focus on team work, communication and problem solving.
Unit 3 Striking and fielding – Rounders
Unit 3 Games – Rugby
This unit will be an invasion games unit based on the game of rugby. It will focus on touch rugby and will involve learning how to attack and defend and on how to outwit an opponent.
Unit 3 Movement Composition – Dance
This unit will focus on creating their own dance sequences using a variety of styles and dance techniques/moves. They will start the unit by looking at a large variety of traditional dance moves.
Unit 3 Invasion Games
With their class teachers, they will be looking at invasion games. They will focus on different tactics when defending and attacking. They will also look at what they should be doing ‘off’ the ball.
This is a new section for the monthly P.E. update. This section will be for celebrating sporting success outside of school. So if your child does well in any sporting events (rugby, tae kwon do, golf, etc.) please email me at timothy.teahan@bhs.edu.hk and I will include it in this section. If you also have a photo I will also try and include it as well (space and size permitting!).
Well done to Chantal (6F) who placed 6th in both the beam and vault a recent gymnastics competition in Singapore. Chantal’s club also finished third in the team competition. Well done, Chantal.
Well done to Natalie (2M) who was recently awarded the British Gymnastics proficiency award for level 8. Top job!
