PE Monthly Update #7
Unit 5 – Individual Pursuits -Athletics
The Year Ones will be starting a new unit based on athletics. They will inquire into the different ways we can run, jump and throw.
PMP
Thanks to the parents who have volunteered to help with PMP this term. I hope to see you continuing to help next term and hopefully we can also get some new volunteers.
50 Lap Run
Well done to the students who completed the 50 Lap 50th Anniversary BHS run over the last two weeks. In Year One they ran as a team of 3 or 4 students.
Next week, the Year Twos will start a new movement composition unit. They will focus on gymnastics and will work on creating movement sequences building on from the skills learnt in Year 1 and in their PMP sessions.

50 Lap Run
Well done to the students who completed the 50 Lap 50th Anniversary BHS run over the last two weeks. In Year Two they ran as a team of 3 or 4 students.
The Year Threes will start a new invasion games unit next week. They will learn how to play a modified version of gaelic football. Gaelic football is a sport that combines the skills of rugby, football, volleyball and basketball.
Unit 5 Invasion Games – Hockey
With their class teachers they have started a unit on hockey. They will learn the basic skills of hockey – ball control, dribbling, passing, stick control and shooting and will use these skills in small sided games.

Unit 4 striking and fielding – cricket
Next week the Year 4s will start their new striking and fielding unit. The focus will be on learning bowling, batting and fielding skills. They will play modified cricket games to enhance their skills.
Unit 4 invasion games -playground games
In this unit the Year 4s play games which involve attacking and defending skills. By learning the skills of defending and attacking in modified games they will hopefully transfer their knowledge onto more traditional games.

Unit 5 invasion games – hockey
Unit 5 Health and Fitness
For Term Two the Year 5s have been participating in morning exercises on Mondays and Fridays before school starts. This unit will look at the benefits of this programme and will explore other types of exercises they can do. At the end of the unit they will have created their own fitness routine and some of the students will then go on to lead the morning fitness programme.

Unit 5 Adventure Challenge
The Year Sixes will be starting a new adventure challenge unit next week. The focus will be on orienteering and team building games.
Unit 5 – Health and Fitness
With their class teachers they will be starting a new unit on health and fitness. The emphasis will be on the importance of exercise and how to look after their bodies.

Well done to Natalie (3F) who recently participated in an international gymnastics competition in Singapore against gymnasts from around the Asia region. Natalie finished 25th overall and 13th in the balance beam.
