Dear Parents,

Despite the unusually cold weather we have experienced this week, which saw an unexpected school closure day for students, we have had a busy week at school.  Unfortunately, the Year 3 students had to cancel their trip to Inspiration Lake but had a great time at school experiencing a range of activities to help them understand well-being.

This week we also participated in the Great Kindness Challenge.  Children across the school focused on ways in which they could be kind to each other.  The acts of kindness varied from children writing letters to each other, deciding to sit next to new friends for lunch, creating a booklet to record kind things that they have done and kind things that have been done to them, researching acts of kindness in the news as well as making sure they smile more and hug their friends and family.  Please do let us know about any examples of kindness the children have shown at home.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” – Aesop

Kowloon Learning Campus Update

We have had a very encouraging start to our work “breaking down barriers” between the three ESF schools in Kowloon and developing a new way of working across the KLC. In 2016, we will continue to work on our 7 goals: Developing curriculum continuity, increasing teacher collaboration, improving access and opportunities for inclusion, coordinating student support, increasing use of specialist facilities, developing learning technology solutions, and encouraging lifelong learning.Parents’ opinions are vital to us. We will be holding a parents consultation on Wednesday 16th March 2016, starting at 9am in Beacon Hill School. All parents are welcome to attend and hear a brief report on progress before having the chance to ask questions. We will give more details after the Chinese New year break.

We look forward to seeing you.

 Health

Students’ Sickness

Due to the recent very cold weather, there are a few students resting at home (after they sought medical consultation) with signs and symptoms of fever, (bad) cough, runny nose, eye(s) infection, or generally feeling unwell.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) reminded us All to maintain good personal and environmental hygiene to protect against Influenza and Other Respiratory illnesses.

  •  Please take note of the weather forecast and to wear warm clothing appropriately according to the temperature.

Always Keep Hands Clean.
Thank you.
