Music Monthly Update #10
Students are exploring timbre, tempo and dynamics in music and examining the ways composers use musical elements to tell stories through music.
Students will be exploring the way different musical instruments can help convey a scene or tell a story.
They will be focusing on different types of weather and how musical sounds can be used descriptively.
Students are exploring singing games and using classroom instruments to accompany the words.
Students are exploring the ways in which structured musical sounds can help convey aspects of a story line.
They are composing pieces to describe a trip to different holiday locations.
Drawing on their knowledge of musical conventions that composers such as major minor tonality, sequences, drones and ornamentation, the students are devising their own compositions in the style of Beethoven.
Students are rehearsing music and songs from Bugsy Malone that will be performed on Wednesday 27th June at 7pm in the school hall.
Rehearsals are underway for Bugsy Malone, a musical that tells the tale of two rival gangs in New York City in 1929 during the time of prohibition. Lots of opportunities for students to act, sing and dance!
Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir will need to return their Choir uniform, as well as the CNY jacket to Miss Kannis. Please ensure that all items, aside from the waistcoat, are washed. All items will need to be put in a bag with the student’s name on it. Choir folders also need to be returned. Deadline to return the uniform is ASAP. Many thanks.
