Our Student Council have been inspired by a teacher’s visit to Impact HK who are a local NGO who support people who are less fortunate than us. Impact HK believes that kindness is very important so it looks to help people in poverty through finding people jobs and affordable housing, sports groups and language lessons. The Student Council will be presenting to the school at Golden Book on Monday 12th November. They will be asking the students if you have any towels, water bottles, tinned or dry food and adult clothing that you no longer need. If you do, there will be a collection box in the foyer. We thank you in advance for your support.

Arranging playdates to help your children develop their social skills were a major discussion points this week at parent consultations. BHS Lunchtime Experiences: A message from our Student Council

At BHS we have lots of great clubs which our students really enjoy so Ms Chung challenged us to create even more! As the student councillors we interviewed our friends and classmates to find out their favourite clubs. We were wondering if any parents would like to help run these clubs? Do not panic! You do not need to be an expert or world champion, just enthusiastic and willing to help. This could be as an one off session or more, it is up to you. Please click on this google form to volunteer. The Student Council will then get in contact with you to organise the club. We will help with all the logistics such as venue, students and resources.

This week in year 3 our focus has been on preparation for the upcoming year 3 camp. The children have been both excited and a little bit nervous and have been full of questions as we have been discussing the camp itinerary. Unfortunately, this was our last week of “Pitch” which has been a great opportunity for the children to get out and do both structured and unstructured exercise and activities. Here are some pictures from this week!

People worldwide have access to rights and opportunities that can look different.

We will be inquiring into:

Difference between needs and wants (Perspective)
Children’s rights and responsibilities (Responsibility)
How children rights are protected (Reflection)

Next week the children will complete their luggage tag with self-care tips. The children will be bringing home their luggage tags for an adult to write a message for them to keep with them on camp (please see example below). They will also be practising their songs, speeches and dance for Sharing Day the following week.

Pattern and Function

Lines of Inquiry:

Investigate, describe and represent patterns with numbers and other symbols
Identify missing elements in patterns
Identify and describe the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction
Identify and describe patterns in odd and even numbers (including even + even = even)

Next week the children will review their understanding of repeating and growing patterns. They will be investigating the “rule” of a pattern so that they can extend and predict the next elements within a pattern. They will also explore a variety of open-ended tasks relating to number patterns.

The children will have the opportunity to plan and write their own stories. This will help them consolidate their understanding of the story mountain planning frame, the “Show, don’t tell” strategy for descriptive writing and the correct use of punctuation like capital letters, full-stops and speech marks.

There was no Golden Book assembly this week due to school photos taking place.

Thank you for supporting your child through their time with the flour babies, we are now returning to own usual home learning task! Please note that we have shared this with the children as well (via email) so that they can access it anytime if they feel stuck. Assignments will be set up in the Google Classroom if anyone who chooses to create and/or share something digitally. Otherwise, the children can bring their learning in on the due date. Their work will be shared and celebrated in class.

Due date: Wednesday 21st November

Children should bring their spelling journals home every day to practise their spelling words.

A reminder that on a Monday and Friday, the children will read from Big Universe and borrow home readers on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday. Big Universe passwords are in your child’s diary.
