This week as well as our sweatshop we have been continuing to get our journal ready…all our PYPX work will go into this journal and they are looking fantastic. We finalized our choices for what issue we will inquiry into and found out our groups. Our mentors also signed up to the groups and are looking forward to meeting the teams on Monday morning. We are very grateful for all these extra teachers at BHS for giving up their own time to assist the Year 6s for the PYPX. Well done to all those children who got their ‘Getting Ready for Week 1’ homework assignment back to school and in their journals on time.
Ms Jeves’ Info Lit Workshops – Ms Jeves has been in to all classes this week to run workshops on a variety on Information Literacy topics. We have looked into the Dewey Decimal System, finding specific information from a non-fiction book and how to check the validity and authentic of a website. Why not get your child to show you the Christopher Columbus site we checked out…..can you see any problems? We look forward to continuing these workshops over the coming weeks and will go ahead and use these skills when doing our finding out stage of our personal and collaborative inquiries for the PYPX.

Some classes in Year 6 have began to plan and create autobiographies. These autobiographies will be worked on throughout the coming exhibition and during the production. As the exhibition is so cross curricular, English is continually being worked on throughout the research, reflections and presentations that the children are constantly working on.
Please continue to keep your spelling journals in school unless your class teacher tells you otherwise.
UOI : start to work on your Exhibition topic. Each class teacher will give more specific instructions about what you might need to begin on eg. writing questions for your lines of inquiry and matching them to concepts, finding websites that are useful to your issue, finding organizations that might help you in finding out more and really researching what they do, designing you group logo for your PYPX t-shirts, working on a shared first brainstorm with your group members so you can all see each others ideas and have your say, think about who and what you might survey for some more finding out….but please don’t email any surveys out!, think about your agenda for Monday’s meeting with your mentor during Golden Book Assembly.
ALL CLASSES….please complete 3 (in a row) activities from the Tuning-in worksheet. Due in by next Thursday 24th March.
DON’T FORGET!!! Can all the children continue to learn the words to Brave and Hall of Fame? If any children are playing instruments please keep up the rehearsing at home.
Spelling : Spelling Journal homework – 3 practice spelling tests to be conducted under the supervision of an adult at home, daily spelling practice and any additional journal tasks set by the class teacher.
