important

  • It was lovely to meet you all at the ‘Meet the Teacher’evening on Tuesday. We hope that you found the evening useful.
  • Year 3 INCAS (Interactive ComputerisedAssessment System) will start next week. InCAS provides detailed, age related diagnostic information on reading and maths ability with research based recommendations to support teaching and learning.
  • Please remember that we have a no nut policy at BHS due to some children having severe allergies. This includes peanut butter sandwiches and nuts in cookies or cakes.
  • Please ensure that ALL uniform (including shoes) is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
  • Please discuss your child’s timetable (in their diary) with them, so they are able to organise themselves with the correct uniform and equipment.
  • Please remember to check you child’s diary each evening for letters, updates and information.

Central Idea

Place Value helps us represent and understand numbers

  • The value of numbers according to their place
  • The role of zero in the place value system

The children will continue to develop their knowledge of the different values of digits in a number and will be able to show their understanding in different ways.

They will develop the problem solving activity by looking at the different strategies used and solving it systematically.

Symmetry

  • Create and describe symmetrical patterns, pictures and shapes.

The children will identify the lines of symmetry in a variety of shapes and patterns and will create their own.

Please encourage your child to complete the Mathletics activities set.

english

Recount: Tells us about events that have happened to them or other people.

Children will be looking at the different features of a recount. This includes:

  • Creating a title
  • Using the past tense
  • Putting events in chronological order
  • Using time connectives

Children will complete further work on the correct use of tenses; they will also look at writing recounts based on the experiences of a story book character.

Congratulations to :
