  • suits for boys (or at the very least a dress shirt and trousers and tie), or traditional dress, dress shoes

A Short, Snappy Week…
Blink and you might have missed it! In actual fact, the children have been working extremely hard, cramming in a week’s worth of work into just a few days.

They have been able to reflect on their action and have planned ways to take their learning further in the final presentation of this amazing journey. Indeed, most groups have already begun preparing for the actual event. The students are really putting their heads together to come up with some very creative ways to share their learning with you. This has meant that the classrooms and flexible learning spaces around the school have been fully utilised. Y6 students are all over the school rehearsing, shooting videos, editing animations. The place is abuzz!

The children were also very excited to received their Exhibition T shirts. These feature a design created by either all of the group members themselves. It must be thrilling for them to see their designs come to life!

Aside from this, the children have been focused on getting the Exhibition Journals up to scratch. These serve as records of their learning journey and the process that they have gone through.

Year 6 have began to plan and create autobiographies. These autobiographies will be worked on throughout the coming Exhibition and during the Year 6 Production. As the exhibition is so cross curricular, English is continually being worked on throughout the research, reflections and presentations that the children are constantly working on.

Please continue to keep your spelling journals in school unless your class teacher tells you otherwise.

Book Fest 2016

This week we enjoyed Book Fest 2016! The theme was poetry and the classes have submitted their poems to the English Team to be included in a digital BHS Poetry Anthology, which will be available for you to view shortly.  As always the children enjoyed dressing as their favourite characters and we were really impressed by the level of creativity on show.   Congratulations to all our Year 6 students who made a great effort with dressing up today as a book character.  Aside from this, the children took part in many English activities throughout the week and really had fun!

UOI : continue work for your Exhibition.  Each class teacher will give more specific instructions about what you might need to do in order to get ready for action week. Use this weekend to tie up any loose ends, create posters, leaflets, slides, etc. Do want you need to do to get ready for the final week. Don’t forget to stay in contact with the other members, whether that is via the communication document or via email.

DON’T FORGET!!! Can all the children continue to learn the words to Brave and Hall of Fame? Although, we have to say, we have been very impressed with how well the children have learnt the lyrics. Thank you, all! We really appreciate it.

If any children are playing instruments please keep up the rehearsing at home. We had our first whole Year 6 rehearsal on Thursday and it is sounding good, but it needs to be sounding excellent by the time the exhibition evening is upon us.

Spelling : Spelling Journals – Additional journal tasks set by the class teacher.

Reading : Weekly reflections to be completed at least once a week. Children need to ensure they are reading at home each night for at least 20 mins and to write one weekly reflection about their reading in their diaries. Parents are not required to write a comment or to sign the book. However, continued interest and involvement in your child’s reading would be appreciated and will assist in their development.

Number Maths :

  • All Number Maths Groups : Mathletics and keep checking in on you survey results ready to make graphs, tables and write conclusions.

Thought of the Week : Something to think about when presenting your learning at the Exhibition!
