We have had yet another busy week in Year 6 with plenty of extra curricular activities to enjoy. The chamber choir did another fantastic job of representing Beacon Hill, this time at Sha Tin Junior school. Mr Melsom paid us another visit and on Friday a selection of children enjoyed an Art show, those Art skills will come in super-handy when working on the exhibition.
Visit from former students – The children in Year 6 learnt a lot from previous Beacon Hill students this week when they popped in to share their experience of the exhibition. They gave us lots of advice, including time management ideas and tips on how to work well in a group environment. Thanks for the visit guys!

Dialogue in the Dark 6H – What an experience! The children were so brave when tackling dialogue in the dark on Thursday. Four groups worked their way through the experience, finding out first hand what it is like to be blind. The workshop really made the children feel thankful for having all of their senses to help them navigate the world around them. After each group had completed the tour, there was a question and answer session. Many excellent questions were asked, but a stand out question came from Alicia. She asked Henry, “If you could see one thing, what would it be?” Henry’s answer was very touching, he explained how much he would like to see his own face and the faces of those around him. We really are blessed and should take some time, away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, to appreciate what we have.

Some classes in Year 6 have began to plan and create autobiographies. These autobiographies will be worked on throughout the coming exhibition and during the production. As the exhibition is so cross curricular, English is continually being worked on throughout the research, reflections and presentations that the children are constantly working on.
