Well done to 5P for putting together a fantastic assembly displaying the important message all about ‘Respect’ it is clear you have all been working very hard. Year 5 have been busy applying their knowledge of modern narrative texts to their own writing and have started to create their own stories which include mindful behaviour. Within our unit of inquiry we have discussed different strategies which would help us to resolve difficult or stressful situations. We were able to apply what we learned about being mindful with Tim Conroy Stocker.

Transdisciplinary Theme: Who We Are

Central Idea: Developing skills may help us to learn about ourselves and help us to interact better with others.

Lines of Inquiry:

  • Mindful attention and its impact
  • The relationship between our sense, bodies and the way we think
  • Ways to apply mindful behaviours

Over the next few weeks we will be creating a social skills tool belt to help the children address a variety of social situations. They will also complete their final assessments and reflections.

vertex-of-an-angle

Strand Maths: To help consolidate the children’s understanding of how to accurately measure angles we will be applying our skills through construction and diagrams of a variety of polyhedrons.

Number Maths: The children will be consolidating and assessed on the concepts within place value over the next two weeks.

Year 5 will continue to write and edit their own modern narratives. These will be shared and discussed with peers.
