For the presentation days children should wear smart casual clothing to help them get into role. They do not need anything too special or new.

On market day the year 5’s will be be busy selling and promoting their products so should not bring in money to spend. if there are any products left they will be given an opportunity to buy things on the Friday after market day

The groups have been working extremely hard this week in class and at break times preparing all their records and plans for their business groups, as well as creating games for the food fair.

The importance of group work has become really apparent to them and they are doing really well at supporting each other and working towards a common goal.

A big thanks to our guest speaker Mr Kim for coming and giving us a fantastic insight into how marketing works and how they children need to consider a range of factors, in order for their business group to be able to make a profit.

How We Organise Ourselves

Central Idea: There are many factors at work within a marketplace

Groups will be polishing their presentation skills and ensuring they can explain and link their plans and findings to how they will be successful on Market Day.

All financial planning and records will be used to set profitable and competitive prices, stalls will be designed and marketing campaigns launched school wide.

Students are now busy applying their knowledge to help create the financial plans and forecasts ready to convince the panel of experts that they can make a profit. They are experiencing first hand the real life applications of their maths knowledge.

A fantastic set of truly passionate and persuasive letters addressed directly to Mr Harrison were created this week. The children sprang into action straight away and wrote with commendable focus.

Now the focus switches to creating equally effective advertising as the children put together their posters, leaflets, coupons and and multimedia clips.

Family borrowing from the library:

As you will have seen in the school newsletter it is now possible for parents, younger children and other family members to borrow from our library. By registering for a family borrowing card you can borrow two books from any section of the library, including the new Parent Collection which contains books about healthy living, behaviour management, fun art activities and days out for children in Hong Kong. The library is open for family borrowing at these times…
