Wednesday 9th March- Year 5 to Sham Shui Po
Friday 18th March- International Food Fair
Please contact class teachers if you are able to help with the trips. We need to have two adults per group.
Please arrange for children to have a packed lunch on Wednesday as we will not be returning from our trip until the afternoon session has started. Children will eat lunch before they go and snack once we get back. For the trip they do not need extra money or shopping bags this week. |
Monday’s trip was a great success so thank you to all the students for their excellent behaviour and attitude. Also to parents who gave their time to guiding their groups we really appreciated your support.
The trip has been a great source of information and reference as we have begun to tune into the behaviour of business and consumers. We are starting to make links to the concepts or demand and supply and the role of advertising.
The children also had some additional art skills lessons with Miss Yu, which they enjoyed greatly and brushed up on their sketching techniques.
Central Idea: There are many factors at work within a marketplace
Lines of Inquiry:
- Different marketplaces and their purposes
- Components in marketplace
- Research and marketing
Our Key Concepts are:
Function
Reflection
Children will start to form their groups ready to explore their lines of inquiry through the setting up of their own business. Each group will be encouraged to look at their skills ready to assign group responsibilities and form initial ideas about the products/ services they could sell.
In Strand Maths we will be building knowledge of the different ways data can be presented.
Number Math groups will begin addressing the key questions for this unit:
How do we know which fraction is bigger/smaller?
How does a fraction/decimal relate to a whole number?
How can we add and subtract fractions of different sizes?
Year 5 did not attend the Golden Book assembly due to their trip to Central.
Please send in the $200 cash by next Friday.
Remember to hand in your tile competition entries for the butterfly garden.
Please continue to sell raffle tickets and hand your money to the PTA office.
