Year 5 will be going on various trips to Central and Sham Shui Po after the break in preparation for their Big Business unit. If there are any parents who are willing to help out on these trips please contact the class teachers. Please be reminded that the children will be working in groups therefore we cannot guarantee you will be supervising your own child. We appreciate your flexibility in this matter.
We have been furthering our knowledge of water vulnerability around the world and the causes and effects to those at risk. Year 5 are beginning to think about the action we can take to address the global issues. They have also been applying their knowledge of features of explanation texts through use of connectives as well as paraphrasing information learned from non fiction books and websites.
All Mandarin classes have been starting their preparations for the coming celebrations. The Year 5s are playing an important role this year and are busy with dances as well as various art and craft projects.
Central Idea: Water is essential to life and a limited resource for many people.
Lines of Inquiry:
How water changes
Responsibilities regarding water
Distribution, availability of and access to usable water
Our Key Concepts are:
CHANGE – We will understand that water is part of a continuous cycle and can be influenced by humans.
RESPONSIBILITY – We will understand that humans have a responsibility towards the use and conservation of water.
As we come towards the end of our Water unit next week the children will be applying their knowledge of responsibilities towards water in a summative task.
Due to school closure this week, Golden Book winners shall be announced in our next update.
Please complete the two spelling rule tasks for Wednesday.
