Year 5 continued to work hard in all aspects of their learning and have been busy furthering their knowledge of the importance of water and the global problems we face linked with access to clean water. Additionally they have been sorting out the information learned about the water cycle and putting this into interesting questions in preparation for a Year 5 quiz.
All Mandarin classes have been starting their preparations for the coming celebrations. The Year 5s are playing an important role this year and are busy with dances as well as various art and craft projects.
Central Idea: Water is essential to life and a limited resource for many people.
Lines of Inquiry:
How water changes
Responsibilities regarding water
Distribution, availability of and access to usable water
Our Key Concepts are:
CHANGE – We will understand that water is part of a continuous cycle and can be influenced by humans.
RESPONSIBILITY – We will understand that humans have a responsibility towards the use and conservation of water.
As Year 5 go further into the water unit next week, we will be exploring the current issues and how these can be addressed. We have been learning how to read info graphics and how they help to display key information.
5A: Hogan Wong- for asking searching questions in UOI
5P: Jakin Tai- for his quiet, sensible and hardworking attitude. Always focused and showing increasing confidence.
5Y: Marcus Ho- for taking action and gathering additional information about why it is important to care about water.

Keep A Water Diary
Select one day between Saturday & Tuesday to record how much water your household uses. We would like to see how much water you are using and the different things you use water for.
