Number math moves on within the four operations and the children will start to look at and share mental and written strategies for multiplication and division.
Within the next unit, Year 5 will be identifying the importance of reference and explanation books. We will be learning how to search for relevant and useful information, study the layout and presentation of these types of texts as well as working closely with Ms.Jeves in the Learning Centre. She will be helping us to further our knowledge and inquiry skills through research.
5A: Cyrus Chen- for working hard on his independent inquiry
5P: Heather Mcomie – for confidently demonstrating her knowledge of area and perimeters.
5Y: Razeen Khan- for writing a creative poem about the five stages of migration and demonstrating his knowledge of poetic devices.
Explore the central idea for our new unit of inquiry- Water. The children have brought home a mind map starter sheet to plot their ideas, thoughts, questions etc about the new unit. They are to add to this sheet so that they can share their current knowledge in class next week.
