Earlier this week students with siblings received information about how to book the student led conference session. All other students will receive theirs on Friday. There will also be a leaflet explaining student led conferences to new families.
Should you have trouble booking or require further information please contact the office.
- Raffle Tickets
Remember to sell those tickets and return the money and ticket stubs to the PTA. Want more tickets, no problem! Just ask and you shall receive. The class that sells the most tickets wins a super dooper prize, good luck Year 4.

It’s construction time! This week the Year 4’s will be planning, designing and building structures using a variety of materials.
Multiplication and Division
Central Idea – Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are related to each other and used to help us solve problems
Lines of Inquiry:
The methods that are used to solve calculations
The operations of multiplication and division
The different relationships between the four operations
The children will be:
- Multiplying 3 digit by 2 digit numbers
- Dividing 3 digit by 1 digit numbers with and without remainders
- Calculating multiplication and division questions mentally
- Modelling multiplication and division using arrays
- Estimating and rounding to check answers
We will continue to work on basic facts. The written form of multiplication and division will drive our number work until the end of the term.
Narrative
This is our second unit on Narrative writing where we are hoping to consolidate skills in the following areas.
- Using and identifying complex sentences.
- Consistent use of past tense
- Using the basic mechanics of writing when editing
- Use of dialogue
The Narrative style we are inquiring into is Folk Tales. We encourage you to share the Folk Tales you grew up with that are part of your culture with your child. They can then share these with the class. The children will be continuing to focus on using a variety of sentence structures and imagery when writing their own fables.
