Year 3 Update Wk 14
All children need a hat for break, lunch times and PE lessons. Please ensure they are clearly labelled. NO HAT, NO PLAY!
Please remember that we have a no nut policy at BHS due to some children having severe allergies. This includes peanut butter sandwiches and nuts in cookies or cakes.
The children had lots of fun during the Year 6 summative sharing. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as the Year 6’s demonstrated their leadership skills to the Year 3’s. We were very impressed with their ability to effectively communicate with their buddies and take part in the set tasks.
The interaction between body systems helps us to keep healthy and survive.
Lines of Inquiry
- How the body systems work (Function)
- Interdependence and independence between the body systems (Connection)
- Impact of lifestyle choices on the body systems (Responsibility)
The children have already begun to express a great interest in our new unit and have been enthusiastic during the provocation and pre-assessment. It has been lovely to see and hear the children sharing prior knowledge and asking thought provoking questions.
Next week we will continue to tune in to our central idea.
- The roles of symbols and the language of multiplication and division
- Mental and written strategies for multiplication and division
- The relationship between multiplication and division
This week in number maths, the children have been exploring multiplicative thinking by focusing on arrays.
The children have really enjoyed constructing, sorting and exploring nets of different 3D shapes and used their knowledge to complete their summative task for 3D shape.
When out and about, please encourage your child to identify some 3D shapes and discuss the properties.
New tasks have been set in relation to Multiplication and Division Please encourage your child to log on and complete tasks as part of their home learning.
This week the children have enjoyed the chance to listen to the sounds of Beacon Hill School. Ask your child to tell you some of the sounds that they heard.
Our focus for the next few weeks in English will be different forms of poetry. The comprehension key we will be looking at will be determining importance.
In Information Literacy, the children have been classifying and sorting questions based on importance.
Please support your child in this weeks homework where they will be determining the important facts from the passage.
What a week for Year 3!
