Where we are in Place and Time
Central Idea: Exploring artefacts helps our understanding of people’s history
This coming week we will be starting our third shorter unit. This unit particularly focuses on the history of ourselves and others and how artefacts (things!) can help us know more about history. This coming week we will be especially looking at the children’s own history. It would be fabulous for each child to share a selection of photographs of their own personal history, please help them to send theirs in next week.
Central Idea: The base 10 place value system is used to represent numbers and number relationships
For three weeks in our maths lessons the children will looking into the meaning of place value. During this unit the children will be learning about the base 10 place value system, the meanings of ones, tens and hundreds and how we use place value to solve problems. Many activities will involve using a lot of manipulatives, to produce different numbers.
