The children have been learning new routines, finding out about each other and settling back into school. Writing, Spelling and Maths assessments have been completed and children have started work on their first unit of inquiry.
People communicate in different ways and for different purposes
Lines of inquiry:
The children will be discussing different forms of communication. They will start by looking at different signs and symbols on their trip to the airport. The children will then discuss the meanings and designs and will create some of their own.

The children will learn to partition, and order, 3 and 4 digit numbers. They will continue to develop their knowledge of the different values of digits in a number and will be able to show their understanding in different ways.
The children all have Mathletics usernames and passwords in their diaries. Please have a go at logging on this weekend and completing some activities.
Recount: Tells us about events that have happened to them or other people.
Children will be looking at the different features of a recount. This includes:
Children will look at a range of examples of different recounts and then practise writing some of their own.
Homework will start next week. Over a three week rotation children will have Maths, English and Unit of Inquiry activities to complete.
Homework is given out on a Wednesday and expected in on the following Monday.
Children are also expected to read every evening and practise their spellings.
More information will be given out during ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening on the 1st September.
