Spelling
Spelling will begin in September. This will be explained in detail at your child’s “Meet the Teacher” evening.
The students have made a fabulous start to the year. We have enjoyed getting to know each other and talking about the expectations of Year 2. We have been really impressed with their mature and positive attitude towards school life.
We look forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Next week we will be starting our first Unit of Inquiry of Year 2. This unit comes under the “Who We Are” transdisciplinary theme and you will be receiving more information about this very soon.
We will be provoking the children’s thinking next week and encouraging them to share their own wonderings with the class. We will also be finding out how much we already know, as well as unpacking the wording of our Central Idea.
Patterns can be represented using numbers and other symbols.
We will begin by investigating simple shape patterns in the world around us. We will also be creating our own repeating patterns using a wide range of mathematical resources. We will be applying our knowledge of shape patterns to begin thinking about simple number sequences (counting in 2s, 5s and 10s).
Over the coming weeks, we will be undertaking a range of activities to determine the children’s attainment in various areas of English;-
We will also be giving the children plenty of opportunities to record their written work for a range of purposes.
Our first Golden Book certificates of the year will be presented on Monday 24th August.
Please can you make sure that all your child’s belongings are all labelled with their name and new class.
Please can you make sure your child comes to school with a healthy snack and lunch, as well as a reusable water bottle.
Thank you.
