PE Monthly Update #6

 Adventure Challenge

This week the Year Ones finished their unit on Adventure Challenge. They played various games where the focus was on team work and communication. They were taught the importance of working together to solve problems.

PMP

We have noticed that a few students are still needing work with their throwing skills. Can you please spend 5 to 10 minutes a day throwing and catching with various sized balls to help improve this. Thanks.

Individual Pursuits – Athletics

The Year twos have just finished their unit on athletics with a focus on how we run, jump and throw. They inquired into the ways we can improve our running, jumping and throwing. They used the skills taught during Sports Day.

Individual Pursuits -tennis

The Year 3s have just completed their unit on tennis. The focus was on ball control and how to use a forehand and backhand stroke.

Health and Fitness

With their class teachers they have been linking their work on body systems to their own health and fitness. They have been doing fitness circuits in the hall.

Individual Pursuits – Badminton
The Year Fours have just finished their badminton unit. During the unit they learnt how to hit a shuttlecock in various ways and how to use those shots in game situations. They finished the unit by playing doubles matches.

Adventure Challenge

With their class teachers the focus was on working as a team to complete various challenges. They learnt that there may be more than one solution to a problem and if you don’t succeed the first time to try other ways of finding a solution.

Team Games – Rounders

The Year 5s finished their rounders unit by playing a rounders game. They used the striking and fielding skills they learnt during the unit in their final game.

Adventure Challenge

With their class teachers they linked adventure skills to their ‘Big Business’ class unit. They looked at being creative, how to think outside the box and how to make their team successful.

Individual Pursuits – Athletics

The Year 6s focused on the competitive side of athletics and were taught the rules of various athletics events. They also focused on how to improve their running, jumping and throwing skills.

Team Games – football

With their class teachers they looked at their football skills and how to use the skills they have learnt in game situations.
